Charles R. Belcher, 93, Longtime Hyde Park Resident

HYDE PARK, N.Y. — Longtime Hyde Park resident Charles R. Belcher died Tuesday, May 17. He was 93.

Belcher served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a teacher at Poughkeepsie High School for more than 28 years, until his retirement in 1987. 

He was a member of the Hyde Park United Methodist Church and was active in the church's Men's Club. 

He was also a member of the University Club. 

Belcher is survived by three children. Wayne Belcher, Karen Petrillo and her husband, Edward, and Russell Belcher and his wife, Elisabeth; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. 

Belcher was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Belcher; and his parents, Charles Belcher Sr. and Norma Bouker Belcher.

The funeral was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, May, 20, at The Community Mausoleum Chapel at The Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, with entombment to follow.
